Vehicle Registration Plates of India |
All the motorised road vehicles are tagged in India with a licence number or registration. The number plate or licence plate is issued by respective state’s district-level regional transport office (RTO), which is the main authority of vehicles on the matters of road. The licence plates are fixed in the back and front of the vehicles. As per law, all the plates should be in modern Arabic numerals having Latin letters. The other guidelines are having the plates lit up at night. They have restriction of fonts that can be used. In states like Sikkim, cars having outside plates are being barred from going to restricted areas.
