Regional Transport Office Maharashtra

Regional office of transport, often called as RTO is in fact a department of government of India, which governs and manages the issuing of vehicle registration and driving license. Each transport office of state is managed by Indian government for smooth functioning of registration of vehicles under precise sequence allocated to that particular state. As far as it hierarchy is concerned, work of transport office is to safeguard the records concerning vehicles and its identity of owners systematically. RTO office also allocate a distinct sequence of numbers to each and every vehicle and these numbers of vehicles are registered with certain authority of transport, which is entirely based on the addresses of owners of vehicles. Each and every RTO is assigned a certain number sequence to register vehicles. This is carried out to trace the vehicles through address of the owner in case of crime or any mishap. Under the act of 1988 motor vehicle regarding section 213 (1), department of RTO Maharashtra regarding motor vehicle was laid. This particular act is applicable because it is a central act. The imposition of different laws under this particular act is the principal job of transport office belonging to Maharashtra. Commissioner of Maharashtra RTO leads the department of transport office in the state of Maharashtra. Each district of Maharashtra has one RTO. Hence, there are total 45 regional transport offices in Maharashtra.

As far as the functioning of regional transport office is concerned, deputy officer of regional transport leads his own office of district RTO. This officer also acts as the authority of registering and licensing for that particular district. Functions regarding issuance and renewal of permit are carried out by this particular officer. In total, there are 14 zones in Maharashtra and every zone covers five districts RTO office.  The officer of regional transport office looks after his own zone and works as secretary of authority of regional transport. Transport commissioner of Maharashtra RTO is given direct report by officer of regional transport. The services, which are provided by RTO Maharashtra, are permit of goods carriage, temporary permit, explicit contract carriage permit, permit for stage carriage services, permit for explicit stage carriage,    permit for private service vehicle, unique permit application, PTA, permit for explicit contract carriage for regular use, All India Tourist Vehicle Permit, Public Carrier National Permit, Specific State Carriage Service Permit, Lading Bill, National Permit Grant, National Permit or Tourist Permit Authorization, Tourist Vehicle Permit, Renewal/Issuance of Radio Cab license application, Duplicate Radio Cab license, Address change, No Objection Certificate issuance, Ownership transfer if finance covered, Ownership transfer, Registration certificate renewal, Registration permanent, Registration temporary, Duplicate driving license, Driving license renewal, Driving license for fresher and License for learner.

In conclusion, regional transport office of Maharashtra is a very big proposition, which caters to the registration of vehicles and issuance of driving licenses. The deputy officer of the transport office heads the office and looks after its functions. The rules and regulation of this office are very stringent. Any one who violates these rules and regulations is punishable under certain sections.
