In Kerala, as in the rest of the county, the Motor Driving Act enshrines on every citizen to possess a valid driving license in order to be able to drive any kind of vehicle.   • Applicants aged between 16 to 18 years old are only permitted to apply for a license for a maximum 50 cc engine vehicle.
  • All regular applicants with more than 18 years of age may apply for a non commercial license for any vehicle.
  • Applicants may apply for a commercial license only if they have one year’s experience of driving a non commercial vehicle and have reached 20 years of age.
  • Initially a learner’s license is issued prior to which a computer based test of road signs etc must be passed by the applicant.
  • The Learner’s license is valid for a period of 6 months and can be turned into a permanent license after completing a test.
  • The Learner’s License also has a date mentioned on which the final test for the Driving License is to be given.

After this, the website issues you an appointment with an RTO in Kerala which would conduct a short test and issue the applicant a valid learner’s license which is valid for 6 months post which a test is conducted and a DL issued.
