Finally, RTOs in Mumbai may go online

After a long-delayed move, Mumbai’s transport authority is looking forward to set up an online registration at Mumbai RTO. This will allow the people to submit their documents and pay the fees on the internet in order to root out the inefficiency and rampant corruption going in the present system.

The department of state transport is looking forward at an option of moving the RTOs in Mumbai online and to remove the involved personal interfaces with the people. It would mean that the entire process of registration will start from buying the form, filling the details in it and then attaching the required documents in the form online. And finally going to RTO personally would then be eliminated.

The department also had meetings with the agencies and nationalized banks who ask for the submission of photo ID proof and personal documents before enrolling the customers. Officials have also stated that they would soon come up with a new system where people can do online registration at Mumbai RTO related to filling forms, scanning the documents and submitting them along with the fees payments as well.

The basic idea behind moving the RTOs in Mumbai online is to go computerized completely so that every transaction of the customers in the transport offices could be done online. Earlier Borivali RTO had also been inaugurated for the same motive and processes like taking appointments, applying for the learner’s licenses are already working online at several RTOs.
